Welcome! This course will help you learn how bias impacts communication and belonging in a community, and communication best practices for moderating and navigating biased posts.

Belonging and inclusion matters significantly for the wellbeing and function of your neighborhood, and moderating threads can be challenging, especially during times of change and transition. Nextdoor has partnered with The New Quo - a leadership and inclusion consultancy, to provide a free, interactive online course to help you with the knowledge, and best practices to build kind and inclusive communities where all neighbors feel welcome.

Structure: There are four modules in this course. Module 1 and Module 2 focus on the psychology, terminology, and history of bias, and Module 3 and 4 share specific tips and tools on recognizing bias as a Lead or community reviewer. We recommend completing the course within one sitting, which should take about 1-2 hours. If you need to come back another day that is totally fine, but we recommend finishing up this course within 2 weeks of signing up so you can begin putting the skills you learn in the course into action as soon as possible in your community.
